DB Ceramics X Bertioli by Thyme

DB Ceramics X Bertioli by Thyme

Caryn Hibbert and Deborah Brett connected over a mutual love of table dressing, where setting and decorating the table for a family supper or feast with friends is elevated to an art form.

Responding to Caryn's hand-painted foliage and stem stripe designs, Deborah has produced a collection of free form stoneware bowls, platters and porcelain serviette rings.

All the pieces are intricately hand-painted, inside and out, in rich tones of red and green and edged with 24k gold. Each piece goes through a lengthy, handmade process and requires three fires in the kiln.

Colours and patterns are placed together in unexpected combinations allowing quiet impact and the most elegant of table settings.

Kitchen Garden

Kitchen Garden

Our Kitchen Garden collection is inspired by the neat rows of vegetables found in our kitchen gardens at Thyme.

Situated on the edge of the water meadows, Thyme’s carefully managed kitchen gardens ensure abundance from the land while protecting and maintaining the fertile alluvial soil. Growing a large variety of flavoursome and unusual varieties, the garden is productive for much of the year, with poly-tunnels to extend the seasons.

Picked daily for our restaurants at Thyme, we celebrate our field to fork ethos, and the fact that home grown vegetables not only taste delicious, are rich in minerals and vitamins and are better for our planet, but are also very beautiful.

Pepa & Co x Bertioli

Pepa & Co x Bertioli

British luxury childrenswear brand, Pepa & Co and Bertioli today announce the launch of an exclusive capsule collection.

Inspired by nature and botanicals in Thyme’s English country garden and woodland surroundings of the Cotswolds, this limited-edition collection is made up of womenswear and childrenswear pieces in classic styles, adorned with a ‘Bumble Bees & Forget-me-Not’ print hand-painted by Caryn Hibbert.

The ditsy, rambling design celebrates this delightful flower and their loving relationship with bees. Look closely at the fabric and one or two bees can be spotted bumbling across the fabric!

Sheep Seats

Sheep Seats

From the Welsh Black Mountain flock that graze our estate to the life-sized sheep that watch over our Baa Bar, sheep are synonymous with Thyme and are well and truly a part of our family.

"My husband Jerry suggested we call it ‘The Baa' - and we loved that: it raises a smile every time."

CARYN HIBBERT

The History

Since Roman times, the Cotswolds have been intrinsically linked to sheep and their wool. Indeed, the name 'Cotswold' means 'sheep shelter'. The ancient honey-grey stone Manor houses, farms and villages which nestle among the rolling green hills were built with money made from the wool trade. Quintessentially English, they are steeped in history.

While Southrop Manor features in the Domesday Book of 1086, its history goes back beyond it, and the magnificent medieval Manor barns and farmhouses have found a new life as Thyme’s “Village within a village”.

Sheep have grazed our water meadows and pastures for centuries and so the Thyme Sheep epitomise the farm and its beautiful old buildings.

The idea for the Thyme Sheep was born during the restoration of the barns while the bar was being created from the old lambing sheds. The Baa's sheep theme (which includes some wonderful paintings of sheep on the walls) exemplifies Thyme's ethos of being true to its history and maintaining its link to the land.

Our sheep seats are handmade in the Cotswolds by local craftspeople based at the Pangolin workshops in Chalford and upholstered by Richard James in nearby Nailsworth. The finishing touch is a solid silver ear tag by Kristina Charrington, identifying each individual with a Thyme Sprig and a unique identification code.

The classic design of our sheep is based upon the breeds of our two flocks: the large, white Cotswold, also known as Cotswold Lions, and the small, black Welsh Mountain.

Our sheep are handmade to order meaning every one is unique; no two models and fleeces are the same.

Table Linens

Table Linens

In the Hibbert family’s kitchen, there has long been an oak counter with three weighty drawers, all brimming with table linens. Brightly coloured, heavily patterned, or plain white with beautiful embroidery – there is one for every occasion and each with an interesting provenance that sparks thought-provoking conversation around the dinnertable. This was what inspired Caryn to create her own table linens, hand painted with her Patterns of Nature.
