Thyme & Bertioli have collaborated with Cotswolds based bespoke furnishing studio Lorfords Contemporary.
The debut collection of handcrafted upholstery - featuring headboards, armchairs and sofas - has been designed to sit in a number of rooms at Thyme, and includes seating covered in patterned Bertioli linen fabrics featuring hand-painted botanical artworks by Caryn Hibbert, founder of Thyme. The furnishing collection will expand throughout the year as seasonal fabric designs are launched, and will be available to purchase at lorfords.com from spring 2024.
Hand-painted by Caryn Hibbert, the artworks are digitally printed onto fabric which is produced in London. The intricate stripe patterns are created from carrots and radishes which reflect the garden rows of how vegetables are grown at Thyme. A more informal, rambling oak leaf pattern also features on ‘The Traditional Elmstead’ sofa design which has been re-imagined for the rooms of the hotel.

Created with versatility in mind, this Slipper Sofa is used in the hotel to provide seating at the base of beds, as well as being used in lounge and dining areas. An armless profile allows you to see ‘through’ the design, giving a greater sense of space within a room, while a generously deep feather and down seat cushion coupled with a sloping back support means that you can sink fully back into the sofa for ultimate comfort. Designed as the big sister to The Thyme Slipper Chair, a loose cover with flat skirt and corner kick pleats give a neat, tailored finished and means that covers can be updated in different Bertioli fabrics as and when required.
The Thyme Glasshouse Headboard has a dramatic angular silhouette that is based on the profile one of the greenhouses on the Thyme estate. With a distinctive custom wooden ball finial detail on top, the headboard creates a dramatic but not overpowering focal point to the room, giving a pleasing balance to any pattern surround.
Designed with a small footprint to fit into alcoves, nooks and smaller spaces. A scroll back detail gives an elegant flourish, while a fitted cover with a flat skirt and corner kick pleats gives a tailored finish, creating a sophisticated and functional chair that quietly does its job. Concealed turned oak legs and antique brass castors also make this design easy to move when needed.
An elegant homage to one of our favourite British vegetables. ‘Thyme Pergola Headboard’ was designed for the ‘Carrot’ room with a sophisticated silhouette of sweeping curvature that directs the eye up to the ceiling of the room.
One of Lorford Contemporary’s best-selling sofa designs, ‘The Traditional Elmstead’ has been re-imagined in Bertioli’s ‘Oak Leaf’ fabric. With inspiration taken from trees found on the grounds of Thyme, the intertwined foliage creates a unique but sophisticated pattern in a calming, neutral palette. Handmade to order, the designs out-swept arms and gently sloping back provide serious comfort with hand-tied coil springs and generously deep seat cushions finished in feather and down.
Our patterns of nature are designed to inspire a love of the natural world, allowing you to create nature-inspired rooms in your own home.
