Buttercup Linen Napkin

£27.00

Printed on a beautifully weighted, washed European linen, this design brings a refined, tactile feel to your table. We have chosen a heavier-weight linen than traditionally used for tableware, giving it a more substantial hand feel and elegant drape. Hand-painted by our Founder and Creative Director, Caryn Hibbert, and inspired by the natural beauty of Thyme’s gardens and wild spaces, each print is thoughtfully repeated by her husband, Jerry, and expertly scaled in Lithuania. The result is a timeless piece that adds elegance to everyday dining.

Key Botanicals

The water meadows at Thyme are a very special place. As you stroll through the long grasses, buttercups, and orchids, the air is filled with the heady scent of wild water mint. On the river banks, yellow flag iris bloom and willows gently sway in the breeze. In winter, the land often floods, transforming the landscape and renewing the rich ecosystem. Meadowlands are the UK's most biodiverse habitat, supporting incredible ecosystems of birdlife, insects, and mammals. Through our work with ornithologists, we know that the meadows are home to an array of migratory birds including warblers and cuckoos. Travelling from far flung places such as Sub-Saharan Africa, these birds are a golden thread to habitats across the world.

About this collection

In the Hibbert family’s kitchen, there has long been an oak counter with three weighty drawers, all brimming with table linens. Brightly coloured, heavily patterned, or plain white with beautiful embroidery – there is one for every occasion and each with an interesting provenance that sparks thought-provoking conversation around the dinnertable. This passion for beautiful entertaining was what inspired Caryn to create her own table linens, hand painted with her ‘Patterns of Nature’, telling stories of the land and of the seasons, to be passed down generations to come.

Origins

Made in our partner factory in Lithuania using European linen. The factory is a vertical system, taking linen in its raw flax form before spinning into a yarn and weaving to a cloth. The fabric is then digitally printed and sewn by hand into the final piece. The digital printing reduces water wastage and the vertical factory means carbon emissions of transportation are reduced.
